THEY BURNED THE BOOKS
A downloadable game

They feared the magic.
They feared the knowledge it would bring.
So, they did all they could:
THEY BURNED THE BOOKS
-----------------xxx-----------------xxx-----------------xxx-----------------xxx-----------------
In a kingdom ruled by an ageless tyrant, literature has been erased from history. You are a librarian—one of the last who remembers how to read—sworn to a secret underground archive that guards the final remnants of human knowledge.
As the king's relentless Stone Knights close in, you must decide: will you quietly grow the ranks of your forbidden order, or will you ignite a revolution that could rewrite the fate of the realm?

THEY BURNED THE BOOKS is a tabletop role-playing game about preserving literacy and enacting change.
Throughout the adventure, players will highlight, scratch out, and tear pages from real-world books to craft spells for their characters.
There is no boring, dusty spell book here - just players using their imagination to create unique spells.
While this game was designed to be enjoyed with friends, we have found that it is just as fun to play solo!
Librarians of any age are encouraged to play, but we have found literacy to be necessary to enjoy to its fullest extent.

Hello! I backed this on kickstarter! (The real world Librarian who mentioned this game would be great to pair with weeded books from the collection!!!)
Is there any chance that there will be a printer friendly version of the game coming out? This is a lot of ink for my poor printer.
Thanks for the game, I'm really excited to play around with it :)
That’s a great idea! We will make a printer friendly version and let you know when it’s uploaded!
I forgot to post the update! Oh no! The B&W files were uploaded a few weeks ago so if you haven't snagged them yet, please do so!
Also, I've added a character sheet and printable matrix so don't miss those either :)
